Someone We Miss - Blast from the past
In this segment we talk about the cars that have made a huge impact on the Indian car culture but have been discontinued, unfortunately. This month we chose the Volkswagen beetle and when we come to think of it, this was one of the most iconic cars ever to be made. A shape like no other, one of the most recognizable and desirable machines you can own.

First launched in 1938 this car had been selling for over 80 years before Volkswagen stopped production in 2019. The car’s final unit was a “Beetle Final Edition,” which had features like as Bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, and 18- inch white aluminium alloy wheels. A 6.3-inch touchscreen navigation system, Fender premium audio system, leather seats with diamond-stitched pattern, and a panoramic sunroof are among the other highlights. The automobile was equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI engine that produced 174 horsepower and a 6-speed automated transmission.
The second-generation Beetle was introduced in 1998, followed by the third-generation in 2011. This car never lost its design elements and Volkswagen never planned to fix what they never seemed to break. It was always inspired by the original design of Ferdinand Porsche and aimed to be the “people’s car” it was always pitched as.

The last versions of this car were all pretty feature rich and had all creature comforts like Android auto, Apple carplay and other amenities such as leather interiors were also incorporated in the classic design.
